The House of Moments

Modern, yet Indian. Evolving with time, anchored in tradition.

This home defines Indian Contemporary through a design language that is anchored in heritage yet evolving with the rhythms of modern urban life. It is layered with colour, prints, memories and softness for a couple and their pet in a Delhi high-rise. The design harmonises the needs of a sitarist and content creator, who needs an acoustically warm, camera-ready performance space, with the minimalist, visual sensibilities of a graphic designer. By focusing on the triad of climate, craft and context, we designed a home that feels rooted in Indian heritage but breathes with the rhythm of modern city life.

There are small moments everywhere, from a sunny breakfast nook by the large glass doors to the bedroom finished with rattan furniture and Indian mythology-inspired wallpapers. The foyer adds softness to the design and gives the layout a strong focal point. The living area, with intentional low seating, leans towards traditional Indian design with its mouldings, balusters and the temple. The spatial experience is grounded by traditional marble flooring and the warmth of teak wood, punctuated by architectural anchors like wooden pillars resting on slate stone bases.

It is an intentional balance of tradition and today. Anchored in heritage, the home is tailored for frequent hosting, blending craftsmanship with the functionality required for a modern urban lifestyle. By integrating the inhabitants’ lifestyle into the structural soul of the home, notably through the illuminated showcase of musical instruments, the design achieves a seamless harmony between timeless Indian aesthetics and the functional demands of today’s city life.

A sophisticated material palette of fluted glass, antique brass accents and hand-woven textiles interplays with soft, textured walls to create a welcoming environment, designed for guests and family to spend time comfortably, unwind and feel surrounded by colour, warmth and character.
